Fun and GamePlay

"Strange Galactic Friends" uses the following aspects

  1. Sensation (Game as sense-pleasure)

    • Player senses will be tested for their reaction time. Players need to see enemies coming at them. They can hear footsteps or clicking of door sounds, and they feel themselves pressing a key. Smelling and tasting is not necessary.
  2. Fantasy (Game as make-believe)

    • Players should believe, that they are a space ranger and a cute slime. That means they should feel immersed.
    • The player should feel the cohesion among the characters and transfer it to themselves and their teammate.
  3. Challenge (Game as obstacle course)

    • The game is an obstacle parkour in itself. You can find platforms, enemies and large holes. The players will only be able to win, if they use the "Gravity Shift", to overcome these obstacles.
  4. Fellowship (Game as social framework)

    • The game is also a social framework in itself, because players need to have a teammate. Like found in the title of the game "Strange Galactic Friends", the game is made to find new friends.
    • When players publish and share their achievements on the internet, they will socialize too.
  5. Discovery (Game as uncharted territory)

    • Almost every level brings a new environment, new background music, new platforms and challenges. With two different bioms, there is a lot to explore!
  6. Expression (Game as self-discovery)

    • Players can find themselves, when they find a new friendship. That will happen, if you play "Strange Galactic Friends" - make friends (even with yourself).
    • You will learn a lot about yourself and your friendship skills. That helps in different types of real life relationships.
    • With their own character, level and gadget creations, they can feel picked up and unique.
  7. Submission Game as pastime (Game as self-discovery)

    • Most time students do not feel bored in lectures, but if they do so, playing the game helps a lot. It helps to overcome boredom and even waiting in the waiting room for the Doctor (in this case it even helps the players in forgetting their physical pain and wounds) or on company team building events.
